Current Course Closures due to Hurricane Helene: Richmond Hill, Jackson Park, & Black Mtn Veterans Park (Front 9 only).
We're often asked "I'm coming through town and can play just one course, which should it be?" and most of the time, the answer is Richmond Hill. It is a gem very close to downtown, the first courses in Asheville, and the cornerstone of the association. 18 wooded holes with lots of elevation change. Most holes have multiple pin positions that change from time-to-time for variety and in 2023 the city upgraded the tee pads to concrete.
Beyond Richmond Hill, Highland Brewing Company is one of the most popular courses in the area and a fun experience for disc golf at a brewery. It was just rated the 7th best disc golf/brewery combo in the world!
Jackson Park in Hendersonville is the highest rated course on UDisc in the area and Lake Julian in Arden is a great destination for some disc golf around a lake with 18+ holes. Both courses, as well as Richmond Hill, regularly host PDGA tournaments.
Locals will also recommend travel golf. We have a lot of fun courses nearby if you're willing to drive just a bit:
East: About an hour drive is North Cove Leisure Club with 3 courses
West: About an hour drive is the heavily wooded Fire Mountain Disc Golf Sanctuary on the very special land of the Cherokee tribe
North: Just over an hour is Johnson City TN and many wonderful courses including Harmon Hills private course, Warriors Path & Winged Deer.
South: Just over an hour is Spartanburg SC and Greenville SC and many wonderful courses including Pipeline, Holston, & Tyger River
