Good morning WNCDGA members. I am asking for your vote in the ongoing WNCDGA Board of Directors election. Many of you know me personally, but here are a few of my accomplishments that make me a qualified candidate for another term on the Board of Directors:
I served as WNCDGA President for the past year, one of the organization's most challenging years as we recover after Hurricane Helene. While there is still work to be done, I’m very proud of all this community has accomplished in just over a year, including at least a partial reopening of all courses.
I represented WNCDGA at multiple town & county council meetings and recreation board meetings to advocate for our sport and course. I went to multiple Henderson County meetings to push for the reopening of Jackson Park.
I worked with local municipal employees on course projects and to negotiate & settle upon our agreed Memorandums of Understanding for major courses including Richmond Hill, Lake Julian, and Sand Hill.
I successfully redesigned and relaunched our website (www.WNCDGA.org), as well as improved our social media presence and the board's backend systems (Gmail for nonprofits, graphic design, merch, etc).
I was the co-tournament director for the 2025 WNC Memorial, the first WNCDGA-run tournament in 3 years. I commit to continuing a spring sanctioned event (if agreed upon by the larger Board), in addition to our other non-sanctioned events.
I am the only incumbent running. The Board will continue to serve our community no matter what, but I believe continuity of board members can provide important historical context. I would be honored to be that person for another term.
I truly enjoy serving this community, playing disc golf, and seeing it grow in Western North Carolina. Please vote for me, Bobby Scott, for WNCDGA Board of Directors. Thank you.
Hey y'all! For those that don't know me, I'm Brett and I'm in the running for the WNCDGA board!
I've been disc golfing for over 20 years and 5 or or 6 of them in this area. I've met the best and most encouraging folks here. I was encouraged to play in my first tournament, try for a sponsorship, and now to apply for a board position.
I am sponsored by Elevation Disc Golf and am hoping I can get one of the coveted spots next year!
As Vice Chair of the Arts Council of Henderson County, I bring nonprofit governance experience and a willingness to work hard for something I love.
I hope you will consider me for a position on the board!
Hey WNCDGA folks! My name is Collin Nickless and I am looking to join the club board in this election.
I joined the club in 2023 and throughout the past few years I have learned the value of the club in advocating for the upkeep of our courses and getting them in new places.
After the past years challenges and not being able to play my home course of Richmond Hill, being able to be a part of the rebuild and revitalization has been a huge joy. That process solidified that I want to be a part of the inner workings of the club. I want to help advocate for course expansion and accessabilty so more people can enjoy all this sport has to offer.
I have found the best community amongst you all and cannot express how much this sport and community have done for me. It would mean a lot help grow and improve and already great scene here in WNC.
I would greatly appreciate your vote for the WNCDGA Board and I would be stoked to represent the best group of frisbee folk in WNC!
Hi, my name is Faith Hall and I’m running for the WNCDGA board.
I love disc golf… most days but seriously, it’s been a part of my life for about 17 years (with a little break in the middle ).
I was born and raised in Augusta, GA, and for the last five years I’ve been living an alcohol-free lifestyle. The WNCDGA welcomed me with open arms during that transition. Huge shoutout to David Dambach for inviting me years ago. Community isn’t always easy to find in sobriety, but this one never saw me any differently. The best way I know to give thanks is through service.
I run my own private chef business here in WNC and teach at-risk youth how to cook. One of my goals is to bring disc golf into that work, giving kids(and adults) another outlet to learn, grow, and experience the game as a metaphor for life.
If elected, I intend to bring my all. I want to help us grow the sport we love, support new players, and bring our collective ideas to life. There is no limit to what we can create with clear intention and a strong community.
Thank you for your vote!
I’m Ryan Strimple and I’m in the running for a board position in the most exciting non-profit in WNC – The WNCDGA.
I have to say that picking up a disc again 4 years ago ignited a passion for the sport that I didn’t expect. I was the prototypical newbie, stuffing my bag with high-speed drivers that I had no idea how to throw and eventually realized the importance of and need for mentors in the game. I was lucky enough to start making some connections in the community and knuckled down to really learn how to throw, and the WNCDGA played a huge part in my progress. Disc golf is truly a sport for all people and I’m incredibly grateful for the community welcoming me and my daughter into the fold. I want to continue the great work of restoring our local courses, developing new courses in the area, and increasing outreach to the youth in WNC to grow our sport.
I’ve called the mountains of WNC home since ’83. I’m an Army vet and worked at CarePartners for 10 years managing transportation for elders and have now been at the VA doing the same for veterans since September 2024.
I’ve played with a lot of different folks over the past couple of years and remain impressed by the talent, camaraderie, competition, and all around welcome from all the players in the club. It would be an honor to represent you all on the board.
Happy Monday Everyone! Avoid those trees!
Seth removed his name from consideration on 11/25/2025. WNCDGA Members are free to resubmit their ballot (only the last valid ballot from each member will count). The top four vote getters (excluding Seth) will win the election.
